Artist's Blog
I finally have something to say

For those of you who are wondering why I have a blog with no entries
the answer is not that I have nothing to say. My friends will tell you that is
never the issue, it is rather my webmaster. I always forget that my
webmaster is instantaneous in his reponse to my inquiries so when I ask
how difficult would it be for you to create a blog for my gallery
by the time he says its easy, its done. So I have to remember to only ask
questions like that when I am ready for the task to be completed. Hence a blog
spot with no blogs. He's like a Genie or something, I think it and it comes to
be.
If you have been watching my Current News you know that I just did my first
friday art walk as part of the the block party. Holy moly who knew how much work it
could be and how exhausting. Its not like being in an art show where you drop
off your art and they, them that do those things, set it all up. Nooooo, its
lugging and fetching and price tagging and sweating and hoping and praying and all
for naught. For naught because I at the moment don't take credit cards and who
in this world pays for anything with cash. You remember that, the green stuff.
Fortunately, the weather was beautiful for Phoenix in June and the people
watching was phenomenal.
The best part though was the fact that I finally accomplised something
that I have wanted to do for at least a decade. Since the beginning of the Phoenix first
Fridays I have wanted to get my art out there for people to see. So now I can say I did it.
Thanks to my friend Jeanne for helping me set up and for staying up way past her bed
time to help me tear down. Also, I accomplished something else I have always wanted to do:
offer reproductions of my fine art. Thanks to Gene-Michael at www.photorods.com I
now have gorgeous prints for my collectors who are not yet in a
position to spend thousands on an original work of art. Now all I have to
do is figure out how to do it all again next month. And figure out how to solve
the credit card issue, and how better to display my
wares and how to do it all without any help.

Did I miss something?

In my musings about all that is involved in doing a 4 hour
art show did you notice anything missing? Me neither at first
then I remembered the hardest part: finding time to CREATE ART!!!
Can you imagine. Amidst figuring what canopy to use, getting
giclee prints made, lighting, and energy source for lighting,
having food, since I have to eat every couple of hours and
only food that I prepare, long story, and pricing and display
and on and on, I still have to find the time, energy and
inspiration to create art. Hrrrumph, nobody ever said being an
artist could be such hard work. I just wanta be my usual hippy
self and make my jewelry and play with my oil paints or water colors
to see what I can come up with not be involved with this crass
crap. But what is the point of art if nobody sees it.
Oh yeah lets not forget the taking credit cards BS. I
just want to paint!!!!
